The roads are good and usually well sign-posted.  South Africans drive on the left and pass on the right. Drivers must have a valid local driving license or international driving permit.  By law you must wear a seat belt.

Vehicles of all types can be hired from good vehicle hire companies including many types of car, 4x4's, mini buses, motorbikes, bicycles, bakkie's (a sort of uncovered van or station wagon) scooter etc.

Taxis

If you want a taxi you must phone for one or go to a taxi rank. Make sure that the taxi has a working meter

Local flights to Johannesburg, Durban, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, East London, George, Kimberly, Polokwane, Kruger Mpumalanga, and Upington are frequent and well operated. Car hire is available at all the major airports.
